The National Park las Baulas is in Playa Grande Guanacaste. This protected area is surrounded by mangrove swamp which is a reach ecosystem that provide habitat for numerous species of birds, mammals and reptiles.

Las Baulas Natiaonal Park was created on September 7th of 1991 under the No. 20518-MIRENEM. The focus of this national park is the protection of one of the in dangerous species of turtles and on of the biggest turtles in the world.

The leatherback turtle seasons is between October and February and there is an office of the park rangers where you can buy the tickets for the tour to Turtle Nesting in Playa Grande.

How arrive to Playa Grande?. In this paragraph we will give some instructions depending where are you staying. If you are in Tamarindo Beach you can take a boat taxi and cross the estuary to Playa Grande Guanacaste, we recommend you to contact a local tour guide in Tamarindo, because they know exactly where is the best point to see tourtles.

If you are at the Westin Playa Conchal or other resorts by Flamingo, Potrero or Las Catalinas, you can drive to Huacas and then turn right, in this point there are a food trucks in the corner, drive for 10 minutes your will arrive to Matapalo, in second corner of the soccer field turn left and keep driving for 4 km approximately to Playa Grande. Once you arrive you will find the office of Minae 100 meters before the beach access where you can buy the tickes for Turtle Nesting in Playa Grande
